Call me crazy, but I felt drawn to do this. I have a couple of blogs already which delve into creativity, Pas'gulla Muse and Learning in Creative Chaos.
Pas'gulla Muse started out as my attempt to cover the arts community in and around where I live in Pascagoula, MS. It's since morphed into a repository of what I notice around the area as well as articles and texts that I think would help me (and anyone else interested in creativity). I haven't been as "on the ball" as I could be of late--there's been quite a few events that totally passed me by--I didn't find out about them until after the event had passed, so they were never posted to the list.
Learning in Creative Chaos was originally a class project. I'm currently studying Instructional Design and working in the Online Learning Lab at the University of South Alabama, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me to pull everything together by having a blog focusing on the creative side of education and technology.
However, I didn't have a place to put what I was actually working on--my day to day notes of the trials and tribulations, starts and restarts, of projects I'm trying desperately to put together. I learned a long time ago that a "writing log" or diary is one of the best ways I have to keep myself honest with what I'm doing in order to get my work done and "out there." And, of course, with me being me, as soon as I figured out that it worked, the writing log got kicked to the curb and forgotten about.
That's where this blog comes in. I started the summer with such high hopes of getting something actually accomplished. And here it is, most of the way through the summer session (July 4th!) and I've slapped at my creativity here and there, but have made no real progress. So, here and now, I'm declaring my independence of my own procrastinating nature! I will get something done! By the end of a year, I'll have at least one manuscript ready to be sent out.
Consider this somewhat of a challenge and a contract.
